Round 1(Coding Round):
It was a hackerRank online assessment which consisted of two coding questions .Everyone had a different couple of questions.For me one was based on subset sum and the other one was kind of a variation of unique paths in a grid.This round was conducted in April.
Round 2(HireVue Interview):
After a week or so, the students qualifying to the next round (that was an HR interview round) got a mail from JPMC providing the required details.The unique thing about this interview was that it was an AI interview where there was no one in person to interview you rather it gave you an HR question on the screen and you had to record an answer of time duration of approx two minutes.There were two questions and each of them had one extra reattempt option.My questions were: 1)Provide an example of a recent experience that you would describe as a real learning experience 2)What specific goals have you established for your career.
Round 3(The Hackathon-Code for Good):
In June, we got the list of shortlisted students for the hackathon. 23 from our college got selected. A total of about 450 students took part in the hackathon from various colleges across the country.
2-3 days prior to the actual hackathon involved the following things: Formation of slack channels,Random division of participants into groups of 5 or 6, opening ceremony, qna sessions, workshops on git and github,Mentors allotment for each group,Icebreaking session with the mentors etc.
On the day of the hackathon(in July): Early morning a set of 8 problem statements were released.These were problem statements of actual NGOs .Later each NGO elaborated on what problems they were facing and what they actually wanted us to solve through our projects.Then on first come first served basis each team was alloted a problem statement.
Now the actual coding started.We had approx 20 hrs for the same.Our problem statement was of a NGO named as 'Dhulikona'.We used web development as well as app development to build our final product. Throughout the coding process all the teammates were on a zoom meeting with either of the mentors too.They were the ones were evaluating us during the entire process. Subject Matter Experts were available for help at all times during the process if you get stuck at any point.
During the coding period each of the team members were called separately for a one to one conversation with the mentors(lika a mini interview).By one of the mentors,I was asked about my contribution in the project, my interests, my skills and some general hr questions while the other asked some basic dsa questions and a puzzle question.
Teams needed to push the final code in the github repository provided for each team and record a demonstration video of the solution (the website) and upload it. After the end of coding period, judging rounds were held. The teams needed to present the demonstration of the prototype they developed to the judges.The winners of the hackathon were declared the same day.
The results for the internship were announced in August . I was one of the 12 students chosen from my batch to work as a summer intern.
Things to keep in mind: 1)Be interactive during the hackathon.Present your thoughts and ideas to make the project as good as possible. 2)Be confident in front of the mentors. 3)Make sure you commit something to the github repo.For that being well versed with either backend or frontend would be enough. Knowing both is even better.
